Project Overview
Nike is a global lifestyle company, that is worn and endorsed by pretty much anyone who's ever played a sport. So why not represent the diverse audience that represent the brand? In 2017, Nike unveiled their Hijab, which garnered a lot of attention because of it's inclusive element. Faith and gender should not deter someone from being their best, when athletes come from all walks of life. I wanted to emphasize this point by creating a short campaign for female athletes, while showcasing the new Hijab.
My Contributions
For this campaign, I wanted to design an advertisement that could be posted on a billboard, or in a subway station. This ad campaign is for the everyday athlete, so it makes sense for everyone to see it on their commute to work, or on the way to the gym.
The design aspect is very simple, and in line with Nike's brand identity. Using a background color similar to the campaign picture makes the advertised product stand out amongst the rest of the ad. I also went with a bold typeface akin to Nike's signature font, for recognition and aesthetic purposes. In addition, I also used a layering method that made the ad feel 3rd dimensional from different angles and create the allusion that the athlete being displayed is popping out from behind the typography.
